  • IIST Students Create the World’s First H-CNG-Powered BAJA Vehicle

    The Mechanical Engineering students of Indore Institute of Science and Technology (IIST), Indore, have achieved an extraordinary milestone by securing the Runner-Up title at the prestigious “BAJA SAE INDIA 2025” competition.

     Their groundbreaking creation, “Vijay Rath,” also won the “Best Innovation Award” (sponsored by Tata Motors) for designing and building the world’s first H-CNG-powered BAJA vehicle.

     This renowned competition witnessed participation from top colleges across the country. The winners were evaluated based on various parameters, including design, cost, market strategy, vehicle endurance, brake performance, and acceleration. The incredible vehicle developed by IIST students was inaugurated by Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari at BAJA SAE INDIA 2025.

     “Vijay Rath” is a unique four-wheel-drive vehicle powered by a blend of hydrogen and CNG. It has been specially lauded for its compact, eco-friendly, and sustainable design.

     On this occasion, the Group Advisor of the institute, Shri Arun S. Bhatnagar, congratulated all the talented students and their dedicated mentors. He emphasized that the entire credit for this success goes to the students’ hard work, creativity, and proper guidance.

     This accomplishment reflects the commitment of IIST Group of Institutes, Indore, to innovation, sustainability, and experiential learning. It also contributes to India’s vision of a greener future by reducing emissions and promoting clean energy solution.
