  • 10 Teams from IIST Indore Secure Their Place in the Grand Finale of National-Level Hackathons

    The students of Indore Institute of Science and Technology (IIST Indore) have once again showcased their academic excellence and innovation by qualifying for the finals of multiple national-level hackathon competitions. This remarkable achievement further strengthens IIST Indore’s reputation among the top engineering colleges in Indore.

    In the prestigious Smart India Hackathon, organized annually by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, six teams from IIST Indore have secured their place in the Grand Finale across both software and hardware categories. The selected teams Team charCOAL, Team Dhruva, Team Codepiece, Team Code Era, Team Key Coders, and Team SARAI Sentinels are competing in the Grand Finale being held across various states from 8 December to 12 December, 2025. This year, a massive 68,766 teams from colleges across India participated, making the achievement even more commendable and reinforcing IIST’s position as the best engineering college in Indore.

    Additionally, under the India International Science Festival (IISF) 2025 organized by the Government of India, two teams from IIST Indore Team Metadors and Team Elara have qualified for the Grand Finale in the hackathon theme “Smart City and Rural Development.”

    In another notable accomplishment, Team Saksham from IIST Indore has secured a place in the Top 20 and the Grand Finale of the “Clear Skies 2025” Hackathon, organized by IIT Tirupati, out of 452 participating teams nationwide.

    Further adding to the institute’s success, Team Fusion Coder has qualified for the Grand Finale of the national-level “Idea-One: National One Health Hackathon 2025”, organized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Such consistent performances highlight why IIST Indore is counted among the best B.Tech colleges in Indore.

    Speaking on the achievement, IIST Group Advisor Mr. Arun S. Bhatnagar emphasized that the institute’s flagship initiative, “Samagra Samutkarsh Yojana,” focuses on the holistic development of students. The program encourages learning beyond textbooks by nurturing critical thinking, cognitive skills, innovation, and creativity, preparing students to meet real-world challenges.

    Over the last three years, 19 teams from IIST Indore have qualified for the Grand Finale of the Smart India Hackathon, with 7 teams winning first prizes of ₹1 lakh each, totaling ₹7 lakh in winnings. Last year, IIST students also delivered outstanding performances at the “S&T Viksit Bharat Hackathon 2024” held at IIT Guwahati, winning both first and second prizes. Continuing this winning streak, students emerged victorious at the “I-Hack Hackathon 2025” organized at IIT Mumbai, securing a cash prize of ₹1 lakh.

    Such achievements reaffirm IIST Indore’s standing among the top engineering colleges in MP.
