Computer engineering is the branch of engineering that integrates electronic engineering with computer sciences. Computer engineers design and develop computer systems and other technological devices. Computer engineering can be seen in our day to day lives and has a fast impact on or lifestyles and jobs. Some of the equipment that are in computer engineering are mobile phones, digital video cameras and audio players, microwave ovens, aircrafts, security alarm systems, laser equipment and automobiles.

Most people today rely on computer engineering to help enhance their lives. Business establishments are constantly perfecting their products and services using computer engineering to deliver and meet the demands for their needs. They have very high budgets for research and design, especially those in the electronic and engineering spots.

Computer engineers are expected to take their computer engineering skills to new heights in the next 10 years, so that scientists and researchers can predict the weather days ahead accurately, predict possible natural disasters and access the extent of the damage before they even strike. It will also help scientists determine if there really is water on Mars.

A computer software engineer specializes in either computer software applications or computer software systems. After analyzing users' needs, he or she designs, tests, constructs and maintain programs to meet them. Computer software engineers design and develop computer and video games, business applications and operating systems. Computer software engineers develop, design, and test software. Some software engineers design, construct, and maintain computer programs for companies. Some set up networks such as "intranets" for companies. Others make or install new software or upgrade computer systems. Computer software engineers can also work in application design. This involves designing or coding new programs and applications to meet the needs of a business or individual. Computer software engineers can also work as freelancers and sell their software products/applications to an enterprise/individual.

The people are responsible for designing, developing, and testing computer hardware, including computer systems, circuit boards, computer chips, keyboards, routers, and printers. They supervise the manufacturing, production, and installation of the parts.

Most computer hardware engineers research, develop, design, and test various computer equipment. This can range from circuit boards and microprocessors to routers.
