- To act as an institutional mechanism for providing various services including information on all aspects of enterprise building.
- To create Entrepreneurial culture in the institutions.
- To inculcate a culture of innovation driven entrepreneurship through student projects.
- To respond effectively to the emerging challenges and opportunities both at national and international level relating to SMEs and micro enterprises.
- To organise Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps, Entrepreneurship Development Programmes, and Skill Development Programmes in the college/institution for the benefit of students
- To guide and assist prospective entrepreneurs on various aspects such as preparing project reports, obtaining project approvals, loans and facilities from agencies of support system, information on technologies, etc.
- To arrange interaction with entrepreneurs and create a mentorship scheme for student entrepreneurs.
TATA FIRST DOT

NEN (National Entrepreneurship Network), a non profitable organization which provides support to start-ups and promotes new high growth entrepreneurs in the market, has collaborated with Tata group of companies and has started 'TATA FIRST DOT'.
NEN has a tie-up with SGI too and hence, a workshop was organized in SGI - TATA FIRST DOT which was powered by NEN.
On 6 Oct, 2012, the TATA FIRST DOT workshop was held in SGI's seminar hall. The registrations began at 9:30 am. Students from over 15 different colleges of Indore came to attend the workshop. 70 student entrepreneurs who have their own ventures or have good business plans were invited.
All the notable people from the college - Dr. Shilpa Tripathi, Mr John and all the H.O.Ds were present in the workshop. Guests and student entrepreneurs from different colleges were welcomed.
The workshop began at 10 am with the introduction of two speakers by Mrs Marlina Ramchandran.
The two speakers were:
- Mr. Prayas Tarani who is the territory manager of Amity University. He is a certified mentor and is himself turning into an entrepreneur.
- Dr. Megha Jain who is working with Jaipuria Institute of Management and has done her doctorate from DAVV, Indore. She is a faculty trainer working with NEN.

The first session was conducted by Mr. Prayas Tarani. He emphasized and discussed about grabbing opportunities for different business ideas. Workbooks were distributed to the students for a self analysis. The major challenges before any student entrepreneur like setting up a company, surviving in the market, surviving the competition and handling the competitor were discussed.
The session after the tea break was conducted by Dr. Megha Jain. She helped the students in evaluating their business models. The importance, definition and requirements of a business model were explained. Packages were distributed to the students which had a complete layout of business models which helped them in analyzing further.
The two speakers proved to be really helpful for the student entrepreneurs as they gave live examples and heard the business plan of every individual present in the hall. The complete session was an interactive one, followed by the lunch were the presentations of the student entrepreneurs who are currently running their own ventures.
Mr. Ishan Asthana from IIST also gave a presentation about his company and Dr. Megha Jain guided all the students who were giving their presentations.
After the tea break, guests from TATA arrived at 3:30pm. Dr. Ruchi Tripathi welcomed the guests with bouquets and gifts. Mr. Arjun Thakur who is the head of leather and garments, TATA, shared his business strategies and also allowed the students to raise questions. Hence, he had an interactive and a successful session. He even met the student entrepreneurs who are currently running their company and motivated them to progress further.
Mrs Marlina ended the development session. She explained about the importance of the workshop and the fact that it was designed to help in building the knowledge of student entrepreneurs and others who have great B-plans.
The workshop was a great success as it helped the student entrepreneurs in creating their own business models which can work for both enterprises and investors. Students also understood the importance and necessity of mentoring in creating a successful venture.
