Prof. Margi Patel briefly traced the history of Shail Group of Institutions. She recalled that Shri. Rohit Jainendra Jain, our present Chairman, even while doing his Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Bharatiya Vidya Peeth Pune had decided that he would not take up any job but would create jobs. For better preparing himself to be an entrepreneur, he did MBA from Symbiosis Pune. An environmental scan revealed to him that professional educational sector of Madhya Pradesh was a promising area and Indore was the preferred destination. Land was procured in the village Dehri, on the outskirts of Rau, Indore. Shail Educational & Welfare Society (SEWS), was registered on 05/09/2002 with the aim of creating of professional institutions of excellence in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Bhumi Pujan of the land was done 20 November 2002. Thus began the journey of Shail Group of Institutions.
Prof. Margi then took the assembled faculty and staff on a short tour of the Shail Group of Institutions. Indore Institute of Science & Technology (IIST) started in the year 2003, having an intake of 240 seats in UG courses of Mechanical, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science and Electronics & Instrumentation. Today IIST boasts of seven UG courses and three PG courses in engineering beside an MBA programme. IIST has been continuously striving to achieve excellence in all areas. Collaborations with various IITs and MOUs with renowned corporate speaks volume of the efforts being made by IIST. As a hallmark of the quality of education offered by IIST, National Board of Accreditation has accreditated departments of Mechanical, EC and CS. The journey goes on. Indore Institute of Pharmacy came up in the year 2004 with Diploma in Pharmacy and then introduced Bachelor in Pharmacy from the year 2007. These courses are always fully subscribed. Both the courses are approved by Pharmacy Council of India. Indore Institute of Management & Research was set up in 2008. Excellence in management education offered by IIMR is widely accepted. College is on the verge of applying for NAAC accreditation and proposing to introduce value added BBA courses in consultation with DAVV. Last but not the least we have Indore Institute of Computer Application which is in operation from the year 2004. As our country is moving towards Digital India, IICA will soon get back its glorious days.
Brig G P Chatopadhyay fondly remembered his association with Late. Shri. J. K. Jain and spoke of the brilliance of the Founder Mentor, his entrepreneurial spirit and witty disposition. He read out brief life sketch of the beloved Founder Mentor.
Late. Shri. J. K. Jain was born on October 20, 1940 at Hansi, Hisar. His father was Late. Shri. Gulab Rai Jain and mother Late Smt Anguri Devi Jain of well known Hissar family, popularly known as Bharat Cinema Hall Wale. After his schooling from the same place, he took admission in Civil engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering, Patiala. After graduating at a tender age of 20, he started his career, in the year 1962, as a Civil Engineer in Military Engineering Service, Delhi. Then in 1963, he joined Public Works Department of Punjab. He held many important assignments in his long career and finally went on to become Engineer in Chief of Haryana Irrigation Department. He retired from service on October 30, 1998.
Even while on service, Late. Shri. J. K. Jain had an entrepreneurial spirit. When his youngest son Shri Rohit Jainendra Jain, on completion of BE & MBA from Pune, decided to be an entrepreneur, it is Shri. Late. J. K. Jain who motivated Rohit Ji to venture into educational sector of Madhya Pradesh. This inspiration ultimately led to formation of Shail Educational & Welfare Society in the year 2002 in Indore. Continuous motivation and inspiration of Late. Shri. J. K. Jain has seen SEWS to grow into a conglomerate of professional institutions. After retirement from service, Late. Shri. J. K. Jain poured all his entrepreneurial spirit into forming Delhi Public School at Greater Faridabad. The school, today, is a famous landmark of Faridabad. He got married to Smt. Shail Bala Jain on 30 June 1963. Shail Educational & Welfare Society is named after Smt. Shaila Bala. Late. Shri. J. K. Jain is survived by his wife and two sons.
Shail Foundation Day 2015 celebration ended with a prayer that the departed soul of Late Shri. J. K. Jain rest in peace. May the sweet memory of the inspired life of Late. Shri. J. K. Jain continue to inspire and guide us.
