Gaurav Wadwekar…Success is a Journey not a Destination

Today when I look back, and see my journey, everything seems like a dream to me. At that point of time nobody had imagined that I would achieve such peak in my career.

I completed my schooling from Convent St. Jude's Hr. Sec. School. Khargone. Soon after completing the same, I had to make a choice for my career, the most important decision of anyone's life. As I was a Maths & Science student, Engineering was the obvious choice. But the difficult part was choosing the right institution from the lots of available options. I came to know about Indore Institute of Science & Technology (IIST) through my peer group. Although it was new in the race of other big and well known colleges, it had the best of infrastructure and well qualified faculty right from the first batch. This is how my journey with IIST started and today I am really happy about my decision.

IIST gave me the right platform both for studies as well other extracurricular activities, I was amongst the lead member who used to organize Udyotsava, Fete, Teachers day and was awarded as "Overall Cultural Coordinator". Apart from this I was also Coordinator for Training & Placement.

Being involved in all these activities did not affect my studies at all, major reason being the kind and approachable teachers. At IIST, I always felt the comfort of a second home. I never faced a situation wherein my queries were not answered. Students and teachers shared a friendly relationship and therefore we were able to share everything with them - our doubts, our fears, our insecurities. And in return we always got a helping hand and motivation. Our teachers were our source of inspiration, whom we could look up to in good and bad times.

IIST helped me hone my skills, and made me realize my true and hidden potential. After coming out of this college I became more confident, responsible and mature young man as compared to the raw school boy that I was when I joined IIST. It made me ready for the tough competitive world outside.

I completed my Mechanical engineering from IIST and immediately got campus placement in Jessop and CO. Ltd, Kolkata. I started as a Trainee Engineer and was placed in Sales & Marketing department for earth moving equipments.

After sometime, I moved on to achieve the next milestone of my career. I joined Tata Robins & Fraser Jamshedpur. Tata was a big brand to work with and I got a good exposure there. I got the opportunity to work for NTPC Power Plant Project Bhilai. As of now, I am associated with JERSEY GROUP of Companies (Pro Trading WLL) in Qatar as a Sales Manager.

At the end I can only say that hard work and dedication is the key to success. And don't just stop once you achieve your goal, instead set new goals and work towards achieving them because, "Success is a journey not a Destination".
